Economic relations between Egypt and France have received a new and significant boost, underscoring the depth of the strategic partnership between the two countries. This was reflected in the expanded meeting held between Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade and a high-level French diplomatic delegation led by Ambassador Éric Chevallier.
The meeting comes within the framework of the comprehensive strategic vision of Egypt’s Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, which aims to strengthen cooperation with international partners, expand economic and investment partnerships, and contribute directly to attracting greater volumes of foreign direct investment into the promising Egyptian market.
Trade indicators for 2025 reflect dynamic and balanced economic activity between the two nations, with total bilateral trade reaching approximately $2.96 billion.
According to data highlighted by Maat Group, Egyptian exports to the French market amounted to approximately $1.14 billion, while Egyptian imports from France reached around $1.82 billion. These figures demonstrate the shared commitment of both countries to enhancing the flow of goods and products while addressing challenges facing investors and exporters.
On the investment front, France continues to consolidate its position as one of Egypt’s most important European partners. By the end of 2025, the value of existing French investments in Egypt had reached approximately $4.2 billion.
Ambitions extend far beyond these figures. Joint plans reveal significant expectations for the future, with targeted French investments in Egypt projected to rise to approximately $8 billion during 2026, driven by promising opportunities in infrastructure, transportation, and renewable energy sectors.
As an extension of this fruitful cooperation, the ongoing development cooperation portfolio between Cairo and Paris plays a pivotal role in supporting Egypt’s sustainable development efforts, with a total value of approximately €1.5 billion.
This financing portfolio serves as a cornerstone for funding and developing numerous vital projects with developmental and public-service dimensions. It demonstrates that the Egyptian-French partnership is not limited to immediate trade interests but is built upon a long-term development vision that serves the mutual interests of both friendly nations.
