Hedi Ben Chiboub, Emna Guermazi and Sarra Ben Chiboub: Three Young Perspectives at So Gallery

Three young artists from the third generation have been selected by the Brussels-Tunis Arts Commission to present their works at So Gallery. Owned by Ms. Salma Bousnina, who also directs the gallery, the gallery is thus opening its doors to a new generation of creators and supporting their artistic journey by offering them an exhibition space at the heart of an artistic path under construction.

Hedi Ben Chiboub, Emna Guermazi and Sarra Ben Chiboub bring together three distinctive worlds centered around modern and abstract painting. Their works reflect personal research carried out over the years, dedicated practice, and a long-standing relationship with painting, which began in childhood.

For these three artists, technique has been gradually developed through observation, experimentation and constant personal work. Each has developed their own methods, seeking in material, color, gesture and composition the elements capable of conveying an intimate vision of pictorial space. This approach gives rise to works in which freedom of gesture meets a genuine reflection on the construction of the image.

Their participation in several group exhibitions has also enabled these young artists to confront their research with the public’s gaze and to continue developing their visual language. Their presence at So Gallery is thus part of a continuity, with a selection that brings into dialogue three different approaches to abstraction and modern creation.

Bringing their works together in the same space makes it possible to appreciate the richness of these differences. Forms, rhythms, materials and colors create three distinct atmospheres, each bearing the signature of its creator. Abstraction here becomes an open territory, where the viewer’s gaze moves freely between the sensations, tensions and balances that make up each work.

This exhibition also takes on a particular human dimension thanks to the initiative carried out by the gallery and the artists.

Ms. Salma Bousnina chose to welcome these young creators into her space and offer them a genuine opportunity for visibility. The artists, in turn, decided to associate their participation with a charitable initiative by dedicating part of the proceeds from the sales of their works to orphaned children, in order to contribute to the purchase of school supplies.

The choice of this period carries particular significance as the start of the school year approaches, with each contribution potentially taking on concrete value for a child preparing to return to school. A work acquired thus becomes the starting point of an act that goes beyond the artistic framework and addresses an essential need: enabling every child to begin the new school year under good conditions.

This encounter between creation and generosity gives the exhibition a distinctive resonance. The work of these three young artists finds a place to be viewed, shared and acquired, while part of this process goes to those who need support.

As an old proverb says: “He who sows for others reaps in hearts.” Here, the artistic gesture takes root in years of research and practice, then continues its journey toward concrete action.

Three artists, three pictorial expressions, three sensibilities brought together in the same space: So Gallery becomes, for the duration of this encounter, a place where young creation finds its place and where art contributes to a process of transmission and solidarity.

An exhibition that simply reminds us that a canvas can begin with a color, grow under the artist’s gesture and ultimately find another destination: helping provide a child with the tools with which they will, in turn, write the first lines of their future.
