Official statement issued by the International Forum for Journalism and Media regarding the military escalation in the region,

and rejecting the expansion of the conflict in order to preserve regional security and stability.

Acting from its professional and Arab national responsibility, and maintaining its firm stance in support of regional stability and security, the International Forum for Journalism and Media expresses its strong condemnation and rejection of any course of action that could lead to an expansion of military escalation in the region, given the serious repercussions this would have on Arab security, the stability of the Gulf states, and regional and international balances.

Any military response could have been confined to a direct and limited framework, targeted at the party considered responsible for any aggression, thereby preventing the expansion of the conflict or its escalation into a multi-party open war. Expanding the scope of targeting to include sites or interests of international powers present in the region not only raises the level of security risks but also opens the door to a chain of reactions that could spiral out of control and plunge the region into a full-scale war.

While affirming its respect for the right of any state to defend its sovereignty and security in accordance with international law, the Forum simultaneously emphasizes that this right must not be exercised in a manner that exacerbates tensions or exposes civilians, infrastructure, and shared interests to greater risk. Political and ethical responsibility requires restraint, the use of balanced response measures, and the avoidance of actions that could serve as a pretext for expanding conflicts.

The Arab region, particularly the Gulf states, represents a fundamental pillar of economic stability, energy security, and the global strategic balance, and any direct or indirect military escalation negatively impacts their national security and the interests of their peoples. From this standpoint, the Forum expresses its full solidarity with the Arab Gulf states and with the unified institutional framework represented by the Gulf Cooperation Council, as a reference for coordination and the enhancement of collective security.

The Forum also affirms its support for all Arab countries in protecting their sovereignty and national decision-making, and its rejection of any interventions or military operations that undermine stability or deepen regional divisions. Sustainable security is not achieved through escalation, but through serious diplomatic channels, direct dialogue, and international mechanisms that address the root causes of crises rather than merely managing their consequences.

While the Forum rejects the expansion of the war, it remains steadfast in its position against any aggression, regardless of its source, affirming that justice is indivisible and that the protection of peoples and their interests must be an absolute priority above any political or military considerations.

Accordingly, the Forum calls on all parties to prioritize wisdom, adhere to international law, and adopt political solutions as the sole strategic option that ensures security, stability, and sustainable development in the region.
